An Interview with Maytree Studios
Maytree Studios are a design and project management practice that encompasses the skill set of six professionals, focused on delivering great outcomes across the residential and commercial interior sectors.
Based in New Farm Queensland, Maytree Studios created a welcoming and calming interior for a private Cardio Vascular Clinic located in St Stephens Hospital in Hervey Bay. We caught up with owner Rebecca Caldwell and Interior Designer Alisha Bouris to discuss the project.

What did you like about dealing with Lamicolor Pfleiderer?
We found the communication to be excellent throughout. The team were very helpful with specifications and they have the best wood grain selections.

Why did you select the product that you did for this project?
The client wanted a 'hotel' type of vibe for their space. They wanted clients to feel comfortable and welcome and to reduce stress through a calming interior. We decided to maintain a very neutral palette but to make the doors to the suites 'pop'. Pippy Oak was perfect for cladding the doors to each of the suites and was used for feature joinery throughout the centre. Lovely to have a really natural, raw type of timber look finish without compromising the durability and maintenance concerns of the client.

What was your inspiration behind your design decisions?
We were looking for a neutral timeless palate with some natural warmth to create a healing environment.

How did you feel about the final product?
The final product looks great, and the client loves it too.

What are the trends coming through now?
We love neutral palettes, greys and whites warmed with timber finishes. There is so much opportunity to use colour and we love that an interior can have anything from bold colour through to pastels - its all about the client, what they want to see, and putting it together well.

What is your "must read" publication/blog/social media platform and why?
Our favourite magazines are Houses and Inside - both give a great overview of what is happening in the design industry in Australia. Instagram is an amazing portal for connecting with other small business. We've found and worked with lots of small local businesses that we have uncovered through instagram and they've become great collaborators in our projects.

Are there any industry upcoming events that you may be interested in attending or that you are attending?
We attend most arc agency events and other similar product oriented events. The Lamicolor Pfleiderer Christmas party is always a favourite :)
